Last weekend, Marvel enthusiasts at the LA Comic Con were greeted by an innovative holographic representation of the late Stan Lee. Held at the Los Angeles Convention Center from September 26 to 28, the convention featured a life-sized avatar of Lee that could interact with attendees, making the experience highly immersive.
Technical Details Behind the Hologram
The hologram was a collaboration between Proto Hologram and Hyperreal, designed within a 1,500-square-foot booth specially set up for this feature. It utilized historical data from decades of Lee's interviews and speeches, enabling it to answer questions about Marvel characters and even address visitors by name.
Project Investment and Support
The development of this project, managed by Comikaze Entertainment, reportedly cost between tens of thousands to six figures. CEO Chris DeMoulin defended the initiative amidst critiques, emphasizing its aim to honor Lee's memory appropriately. Bob Sabouni, manager of the Stan Lee Universe brand, also supported the technology, stating that the hologram was carefully programmed to echo Lee's genuine words and spirit.
