Public Reaction to OnlyFans Advertisement at Orange Beach
Orange Beach, a location known for its family-friendly environment, recently became the center of controversy due to an OnlyFans advertisement displayed via a banner plane. The incident happened over the weekend and has sparked significant backlash from the local community and officials.
Local Officials Respond
Mayor Tony Kennon of Orange Beach expressed his displeasure regarding the banner. "It's sad because the banner is advertising pornography," Kennon stated. He highlighted the inappropriateness of exposing children to such content, describing the advertiser as "a despicable individual" for choosing to display the ad along a beach frequented by families.
Community and Visitor Reactions
The advertisement not only caught the attention of officials but also disturbed beachgoers. Heather Tyler, visiting from Arkansas, voiced her concerns about the impact on children. "There are little eyes and little ears, and they absorb every little thing," she commented, worried about the exposure to adult content. Meanwhile, an anonymous beachgoer argued for maintaining public spaces that are family-friendly.
Not everyone shared the same level of concern; some locals appeared indifferent, suggesting that the explicit content of the ad might go unnoticed by children, or stating that they did not mind the nature of the advertisement.
Regulatory Challenges
The local government faces significant challenges in regulating such advertisements. Mayor Kennon revealed the limitations faced by the city: "We have absolutely no jurisdiction whatsoever. No say, so pretty much the FAA is regulated by them. Wish we could, but we don’t," he explained. This highlights a gap in local governance capability concerning aerial advertising.
Call for Stricter Regulations
In response to the incident, Mayor Kennon has called for stricter regulations on what can be advertised by banner plane companies. The aim is to preserve the family-oriented nature of Orange Beach and prevent similar controversies in the future.
