Overview of the Allegations Against Orlando Youth Basketball Coach
Roderick Wilmont, a former professional basketball player and current youth basketball coach in Orlando, faces serious allegations, including misusing funds for personal expenses. Wilmont, who is 40 years old and runs Mont Sports Academy, was arrested in Seminole County on May 2. He faces charges related to scheming to defraud, including two counts of defrauding an innkeeper.
Financial Misconduct Linked to OnlyFans Subscriptions
Investigations have revealed that Wilmont allegedly used financial resources derived from player tuition to fund personal interests, including subscriptions to OnlyFans, a platform known primarily for adult content. Evidence from Wilmont’s bank account showed irregular spending patterns, with deposits up to $45,000, which are suspected to be from player tuition fees. This money was reportedly spent on personal luxuries such as gambling, vacations, and digital content subscriptions.
Legal Implications and Wilmont’s Defense
The charges against Roderick Wilmont stem from unpaid bills totaling nearly $19,000 to Tropical Escape Vacation Homes and over $7,000 to Westgate Resorts. These properties were supposedly used to house his players. Despite the serious nature of the allegations and the evidence presented, Wilmont maintains his innocence. He claimed in an interview with FOX 35 that he was wrongfully detained. The case is currently under review by the Orange-Osceola State Attorney’s Office, according to spokesperson Jason Gunn.
