OnlyFans Creators File Lawsuit Against New York State
Mark Longo and Daniela Bittner, operators of a popular OnlyFans account, are initiating legal action against the state of New York following the death of their pet squirrel, Peanut. The legal move comes after state officials, during a raid at the couple’s home, euthanized Peanut and another squirrel named Fred.
Allegations of Negligence by New York State
The couple alleges that state authorities acted recklessly and failed to inform them of the decision to euthanize the animals, which they believe infringes on due process laws. Longo and Bittner argue that their squirrels should have been considered companion animals rather than wild animals, directly questioning the state's handling and classification during the raid.
Dispute Over Health Status of the Squirrels
Longo and Bittner contest that there was no evidence suggesting that the squirrels were rabid, proposing that a 10-day quarantine would have been an adequate response instead of euthanasia. They emphasized that Peanut and Fred were healthy, viewing their death as an execution.
Impact on the Couple's Livelihood
The lawsuit will also address emotional distress and the violation of their constitutional rights, highlighting the loss of income related to Peanut's role in their OnlyFans content creation. The presence of Peanut on social media had been a significant part of the couple's income. Moreover, they were amidst the process to become licensed Wildlife Rehabilitators, acquiring necessary legal documentation.
Expected Developments
While the official filing date of the lawsuit remains undisclosed, the case has already sparked not only legal but also media and public interest due to the unusual circumstances involving social media influences and wildlife management.
