NYPD Officer Under Review Over OnlyFans Content

New York Police Department (NYPD) officer Dannah Battino, who is still in her probationary period, is currently under internal investigation which could potentially lead to her termination due to her involvement with the subscription-based platform OnlyFans. Officer Battino entered the NYPD after serving as a Fire Department of New York (FDNY) emergency medical technician.

Investigation Triggered by OnlyFans Account Discovery

The onset of the investigation into Battino’s activities was prompted by the circulation of images from her OnlyFans account among department members. The account, now deactivated, spurred concerns regarding adherence to NYPD’s policies that govern secondary employment and the requirement for income disclosure during the recruitment process.

Background Checks and Employment Policies

A retired high-ranking NYPD official highlighted that all sources of income must be disclosed during the application process, implying that nondisclosure, especially in cases where an active subscription-based account like OnlyFans could generate revenue, might be grounds for dismissal. The NYPD conducts thorough background checks that include scrutinizing social media and other online activities, which raises questions about the prior non-detection of Battino’s account.

Discussion on Standards and Expectations within NYPD

The situation has ignited a broader dialogue about the standards and public image associated with NYPD personnel. While some voices within the department emphasize the importance of upholding a strict code consistent with its paramilitary organization, others contend whether personal activities like those of Battino should impact her professional standing.

Support from Police Benevolent Association

Amidst the controversy, the Police Benevolent Association (PBA) defended Battino. Patrick Hendry, President of the PBA, criticized the focus on Battino’s personal and legal activities which, he argues, have not interfered with her duties as an officer. Hendry decried the public exposure of her personal information as “shameful,” advocating for privacy in these matters.

The NYPD has acknowledged the ongoing review but has refrained from providing additional details at this moment. Attempts to contact Officer Battino for her perspective were unsuccessful.
