The school’s gymnasium was utilized for a 24-hour live stream event hosted by a streamer identified as Wubby, or PayMoneyWubby, on Fansly, a platform known for adult content. Giordano Bruno, a student at Canyon Crest Academy, expressed his concerns about the event. "It feels nasty. It’s gross. I’m astonished. I can’t believe my school would let a bunch of basically semi, like, porn stars come to the school and film on my campus," he remarked. Other aspects of the event that drew criticism included sexually suggestive content and a PowerPoint presentation featuring racially insensitive comments, assessed by scantily-clad women.
Another student, Brian Cheng, noted the impact such an event has on the school's academic reputation. "We're known for, like, studying and academics. Not really like this OnlyFans stuff," Cheng said. There were also concerns about the cleanliness and the future use of the gymnasium after the event.
School Administration Responds
The reaction from the school's administration was prompt. Principal Brett Killeen labeled the event as "inappropriate, distasteful, and in conflict with our organization's core values." According to the school, the entity that approved the gym rental was not fully aware of the nature of the event, describing it as a breach of their licensing agreement. Organizer and Legal Perspective
On the flip side, the event organizer Wubby claimed that the event adhered to all contractual agreements. "We had a wonderful and very successful event," he stated. His attorney, Jason Brower, argued that the terms of the event, including the sponsorship by Fansly, were transparently disclosed. Brower also mentioned that any assertions of unawareness by the school or its foundation about the event's nature are mistaken and could be seen as defamatory.
